This is Jet. He has the blood of patriots, and is determined to spill the blood of tyrants.

Jet has the terrible, cliched past; his home village was ravaged by the Fire Nation -- his mother and father and elder brother all fell to the Rough Riders. He was perhaps eight years old at the time-- fractured by the violent deaths and destruction of everything he held dear in a conflagration that scorched the earth and left both it and Jet's compassion barren.

Jet went warped; he became a leader of the young -- finding others like themselves and giving them an option. He had been growing up to be a soldier, and he passed on what he learned -- and in time, improvised -- to the other young he found. He set up a village of these lost boys and girls, forgotten in the war; the Longshots, the Smellerbees and more.

He made them into a Fighting Force -- the Freedom Fighters, working terrorist attacks against any any all Fire Nation they could reach. No caravan was safe. No village -- peaceful or not -- stood against him.

This is what cost him his village in time. When he tried to dupe the Avatar, embodiment of Balance; he was caught, his leadership shattered and most of his followers scattered. Jet too decided he needed a change...

... but old habits are hard to break. He's not really changed-- is he? Not when he stalked PRince Zuko, who was undercover as a simple Earth Kingdom refugee. Not when he was arrested for trying to reveal him. Not when he was used by the Dai Li under Lake Laogai to attempt to kill the Avatar himself as a brainwashed patsy...

He wanted to start new; but with his apparent death beneath Lake Laogai... He may never have really gotten the chance.
